Bombas Gens, Centre d’Art
Valencia
Bombas Gens has transformed what was once the factory's backyard into a garden. A secluded space of 1,147 m2, which inherits the modernist tradition of its architecture to create a lush and colourful garden.
The design is based on a dense cover of plant compositions with more than 100 different species, which are intermingled to create a natural environment. They are broad-leafed species with intense greens together with an infinite number of flowers that enhance the modernist character of the garden, and which have been created as compositional scenes.
The garden includes citrus and pomegranate trees, reminiscent of the orchard that once existed, palm trees, and a jacaranda tree that alludes to the one that was in Doctor Trigo’s factory and that was known in the neighbourhood as "l’arbre". In the botanical palette we can find species that attract birds and butterflies. There are also specimens of special interest, such as large Lagerstroemias indica or an exceptional Camellia sansakua.
A garden reminiscent of the time when Bombas Gens was built, which has rescued the spirit of the place, highlighting the rear façade of the factory and using "rodeno" paving stones as a floor. Today, it is intended to be a space for reflection and tranquillity, ideal as the end of a visit to the Art Centre, where you can stop and absorb the beauty you have contemplated. It is the setting for various events by the fundation "Per Amor a l’Art".
